Ashton "AJ" Nicholson
Kent, Ohio
AJ is our son. On March 12, 2014, AJ was unexpectedly taken from us. AJ was shot by someone else who had access to an unlocked gun and was relocated to Heaven on that day. He was 11 years old and had such a big heart for a child that age. We have shared and heard so many stories of AJ's generosity. We want to keep AJ's spirit alive in this world by passing on his compassion and kindness to others. The week before the accident, I had a conversation with AJ about what he would do if he had unlimited money. Of course he wanted to get himself an Xbox One, but after that he wanted to buy stuff for his friends and give money to people who were caught doing good things.
The AJ Way is a program that will share the story of AJ. It will share a story that promotes kindness and generosity to others. We have a vision that people will receive compassion and kindness from a complete stranger, look at AJ’s picture, read his story, and want to pass the kindness to someone else. Kindness is contagious and will be passed from one person to another. We have a vision that even after The AJ Way card is passed on that person will continue to share compassion for others.
